Steven Courtney and His Band to Kick Off
Wednesday Kid’s Club
at New Covenant Community Church
The 2010/2011 Wednesday Kid’s Connection invites the community to enjoy Steven Courtney and His Band in concert on Wednesday, September 15, 2010. The doors open at 6:30 pm and the concert begins at 7:00 pm. Refreshments will be served following this free family concert.
Steven Courtney is a performing songwriter who has experienced top notch success. In a span of fifteen years, Steven has performed over 4,500 concerts, recorded 27 full-length albums, received 7 Children’s Music Web Awards and the Arpeggio Award for “Outstanding Work with Children” through the Arts, as well as produce three concert-length performance videos and an award winning Children’s TV series!
Few artists are as committed to expanding the boundaries of Children’s Music and Family Entertainment as Steven Courtney. Courtney’s songs inspire imagination and positive social behavior with a superabundance of creativity added. Trying to slot his music into a specific genre, fails to capture the tapestry of musical forms from which he draws.
“I strive to write songs that kids and parents can be entertained by, while they are together, enjoying each other’s company,” says the Manheim Pennsylvania-based songwriter. “It’s magnificent to really enjoy music with your child and not have to pretend! I’ve always appreciated a wide range of musical styles and I think that music for the whole family can be as good as any mainstream style of music. You’d be surprised how much a parent and child have in common, musically, if given the opportunity to enjoy it together.” More information is available at http://stevencourtney.com/
The Wednesday Kid’s Connection meets each Wednesday from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm at New Covenant Community Church. For children from Pre-Kindergarten through 6th Grade, Kid’s connection offers a variety of activities including Games, Crafts, Bible Study, Snacks, Family Dinners and special events throughout the year. There is no cost to participate in Wednesday Kid’s Connection and registration forms will be available after the concert.
New Covenant to Host Financial Peace University
Financial Peace University, a 13-week program taught by Dave Ramsey, will be offered at New Covenant Community Church 284 Slab Rd. Delta, PA 17314 beginning Monday, September 20th at 6:30 PM. For additional information send request to info@nccchurch.com
Information sessions are scheduled for Sunday, August 29th at 12:30 PM and Wednesday, September 8th at 7:00 PM at the church, interested individuals are also invited to attend the first class on September 20th for free.
Financial Peace University (FPU), the 13-week program taught on DVD by Dave Ramsey, has helped more than 500,000 families positively change their financial future. This life-changing program has been revised and updated in order to reach more people and teach them how to handle their money.
FPU teaches families and individuals about personal finance through common-sense principles and small group accountability. As they work on a Total Money Makeover, the average family pays off $5,300 in debt and saves $2,700 in the first 91 days after beginning FPU and is completely out of debt, except for the mortgage, in 18 to 24 months. “Now that I have a plan about my future, I am hopeful,” said Cheryl Brown, former FPU participant. “I know that I can move forward now that I know how to budget my money and how to tell my money what to do.”
The program is made up of 13 powerful lessons taught by Dave in a fun and entertaining way. Each lesson has been updated with new introductions to help illustrate the message. “I like to put the cookies on the shelf where everyone can reach them,” says Ramsey. After each lesson the group meets to help each other plan budgets, discuss successes and temptations, and support each other in their journey to beat debt and build wealth. Topics covered include:
* Saving
* Relationship and money issues
* Budgeting
* Getting out of debt
* Dealing with creditors
* Influence of marketing on buying decisions
* Role of insurance in a healthy financial plan
* Buying big bargains
* Understanding investments
* Retirement and college planning
* Career changes
* Real estate and mortgages
* Giving
Each class participant needs a Membership Kit. The kit includes an updated FPU workbook, an FPU envelope system, 13 audio lessons, bonus CD, budgeting forms, debit card holders, and Ramsey’s best-selling book – Financial Peace Revisited. Kits can be ordered at both information sessions, the BookCorner at New Covenant Church or online at www.daveramsey.com
Included in the cost of the kit is a lifetime family membership to FPU, allowing the participant to return to any class at anytime for a refresher course.
Members also have the opportunity to visit the Member Resource Center online. The site is designed to allow class participants to review content and tips that help them stay motivated. The budgeting tools and software also helps them to create their budget online and tell their money what to do.
About Dave Ramsey
Dave Ramsey is a personal money management expert, an extremely popular national radio personality and best-selling author of The Total Money Makeover and host of “The Dave Ramsey Show on the Fox Business Network.” In his latest book, a follow-up of his enormously successful New York Times best-sellers Financial Peace and More Than Enough, Ramsey exemplifies his life’s work of teaching others how to be financially responsible, so they can acquire enough wealth to take care of loved ones, live prosperously into old age, and give generously to others.
Ramsey knows first-hand what financial peace means in his own life – living a true riches to rags to riches story. By age twenty-six he had established a four-million-dollar real estate portfolio, only to lose it by age thirty. He has since rebuilt his financial life and now devotes himself full-time to helping ordinary people understand the forces behind their financial distress and how to set things right – financially, emotionally, and spiritually.
